My two year old brother got 4 teeth removed?

Ok so me and my aunt took my 2 year old brother to university of illinois to get his teeth checked out and they said they had to take 4 of them out. It took like 10 minutes to do it but they dont use the gas there instead they put him in a stray jacket thingy and they started removing them i was holding his hand during the whole thing and he was in so much pain during it and it made me cry but i didnt let him see me cry. I just thought 4 teeth was way too much pain for a 2 year old to take. They didnt prescribe him anything like antibiotics or pain meds or didnt give me a syringe to clean the front part of his mouth with. He also wont even put the gauze in his mouth.. hes sleeping right now and the novocaine is gonna ware off in like 15 mins and im just scared because they didnt give him antibiotics so he didnt get an infection and i dont know what to do i feel helpless right now. So what im asking is did the oral sergeon do this right? And i need some advice on how to make him as comfortable as possible through the healing process. And what kind of foods/drinks should i give him? Has anyone else been through this?
